AI policy

Tele Launched may use AI tools to assist research, outlining, and drafting. Humans edit every story and page we publish and remain accountable.

Tele Launched may use artificial intelligence tools to assist research, outlining, and drafting. Humans edit every story and page we publish, and humans remain accountable for what appears under our bylines.

What AI may do

  • Help organize notes and timelines from public documents
  • Suggest outlines or draft language that an editor then rewrites
  • Assist with copy editing for clarity and consistency

What AI must not do

  • Fabricate sources, quotes, URLs, warning letters, court outcomes, or dates
  • Invent patient outcomes or clinical claims
  • Publish without a human editor's review
  • Replace our obligation to check primary documents

Bylines and accountability

Bylines name the human author or editor responsible for the piece. AI is a tool, not an author. If a process piece or staff note discusses our AI workflow, we say so plainly (see our launch staff note in News).

Corrections

Errors introduced with AI assistance are treated like any other error under our Corrections policy. We do not blame the model; we fix the copy.

Privacy

We do not paste confidential tips containing sensitive personal data into consumer AI tools when that would be inappropriate. Tipsters should avoid sending protected health information. See Privacy policy.
